Airport Rideshare Calendar for NPA Attendees

Forrest Bishop has put up a Rideshare page as he describes:

A Rideshare Event Calendar is posted at www.bishopcubes.com/rideshare for the convenience of the NPA Attendees only. The Rideshare page is an unpublished orphan and so should be as private as possible for the internet. The idea is to save everyone a bit of money on transportation from the airport to the hotel and maybe get to know someone you might not have otherwise.

The Sunport Shuttle to Marriott Pyramid is $22.00 One Way, $42.00 RT, and $7.00 for each additional Passenger. A cab is about $37.00 +$1 for each additional passenger. So you can save both yourself and someone else some money if you can coordinate your trips to and from the airport with them.

There are two ways to use this Rideshare Calendar:
1) You may enter your arrival and/or departure dates and times on the calendar in hope that someone else will see it and contact you to share a cab, rental car, or shuttle expenses.

2) You may look at the entries that others have posted on the calendar, find something close to your times and dates, then contact that person to see if the two of you can come to an arrangement.

To add an entry click “Add Event”, and a screen with a data form comes up. Be sure to get the right date entered at the top. Be sure to un-check the “Duration…All Day” box at upper left, then an hourly chart comes up. You will do this Add Event twice, once for arrival and again for departure if desired. Green is for Arrival and Red is for departure, which only shows on the main calendar after you’ve made the entry. This is controlled in the “Category” drop-down box. (You can go back and fix that if you need to, but when I tried it looked like it had disappeared, but it showed up when I reloaded the page.)

Enter a Title and Description on the rideshare form. Example Title is “Arrive 5:45PM Southwest Air”. This is what shows up on the main chart. In Description you can add details like “looking to share cab or shuttle expenses". Add a “Contact Person” and a “Phone or Email Address” in the lower two boxes. The rest of the information is not necessary.

There is one bollix we couldn’t remove- you’ll have to put in a name and password at first in order to access the “Add Event” form. Then you have to wait for us to approve your request. We’ll monitor the site and try to do that quickly.
